Our Story

On a lawn mower, July 4, 1996. That’s when Pastor David had a God-moment. Already pastoring a great church in Somerset, David collected more than grass clippings that evening. He bagged a vision for a new type of church in a very churched area. It was on a mower that Eagle Heights Church was born.

In a rented hall at the Center for Rural Development, November 10, 1996. That was the very first worship gathering for about 120 people who were ready to create a warm, inviting place where seekers could find a Jesus who is approachable, a Jesus who would take them as they are and bring them into a relationship with Him. That day was the beginning of something that only God can do.

Since then, Eagle Heights has become something only God can do. Nearly 17 years later, David is still the Lead pastor, still rides a lawn mower and still believes that God has the freedom at Eagle Heights to do what only God can do. It has been an incredible ride, and the best is yet to come. He’s still convinced that the people of our region need a place where they can do life instead of doing church. A place where disconnected people can become connected – both to Jesus and also to people who are committed to doing life together.
